Power quality is a pressing concern in electric power systems. One of the main requirements of power quality management is the guarantee of a sinusoidal voltage waveform with adequate amplitude at each node of the network. The fulfilment of such a control objective is facilitated by adaptive systems which can account for unpredictable fluctuations in operating conditions. Adaptive Voltage Control in Power Systems, a self-contained blend of theory and novel application, is an in-depth treatment of such adaptive control schemes. Tech. in Biotechnology and Engineering from the Department of Chemical Engineering, IIT, Kharagpur and Ph.D. in Bioelectronics from BITS, Pilani. He has taught Biochemical Engineering and Biophysics to B.E., M.E. and M.Sc. level student carried out advanced research in the area of Ion channels at the Department of Botany at Oklahoma State University, Stillwater and Department of Biological Sciences at Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN. He also holds the position of Nanion Technologies Adjunct Research Professor at Research Triangle Institute, RTP, NC. He had received various awards including JCI Outstanding Young Person of India and ISBEM Dr. Ramesh Gulrajani Memorial Award 2006 for outstanding research in electro physiology.

As future generation electrical, information engineering and mechatronics become specialized and fragmented, it is easy to lose sight of the fact that many topics in these areas have common threads and, because of this, advances in one discipline may be transmitted to others. CSIE 2011 is an international scientific Congress for distinguished scholars engaged in scientific, engineering and technological research, dedicated to build a platform for exploring and discussing the future of Computer Science and Information Engineering with existing and potential application scenarios. The congress has been held twice, in Los Angeles, USA for the first and in Changchun, China for the second time, each of which attracted a large number of researchers from all over the world.
